Free plaza party and celebration April 24 at Delta Center to meet Utah’s NHL team
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Utah is set to welcome its National Hockey League (NHL) team with a celebration at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City today, Wednesday, April 24.
The event, which starts at 4 p.m. with a Plaza Party, is free to the public and promises a fun-filled evening that includes sports activities, live music, and a chance to meet the new team and its coaches.
What to Expect
The festivities begin outside the Delta Center with a Plaza Party at 4 p.m., featuring activities like 4v4 street hockey, face painting, and live band performances. As fans move inside, they will be greeted with more entertainment options, such as an inflatable hockey shooting game, photo opportunities, and a ‘paint your puck’ station. The first 5,000 attendees will receive a ticket voucher redeemable for two seats at a 2024-25 preseason NHL or Utah Jazz game.
Main Event Highlights
The main celebration starts at 5:30 p.m., and attendees will enjoy speeches from team owners Ryan and Ashley Smith, as well as Head Coach André Tourigny. Fans will also be introduced to the players selected for Utah’s NHL roster. Complimentary refreshments, including J. Dawgs, Coca-Cola products, and popcorn, will be available throughout the venue.
Special Giveaways
The evening will not only be about celebrations but also giving back to the fans. Attendees will have the opportunity to win several prizes. Giveaways include a pair of season tickets for the inaugural 2024-25 NHL season, a team jersey signed by all the players, and a trip to an away game during the team’s first season.

Guests planning to attend the event are reminded that bags, including purses, are not allowed inside the Delta Center, with the exception of diaper and medical bags no larger than 14x14x6 inches.
