Park City sophomore and partner win figure skating gold medal

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City High School sophomore Chase Rohner and his partner Noelle Thackeray, a student at Hillcrest Junior High School, took the Intermediate Ice Dance gold medal at the 2024 U.S. Figure Skating National Ice Dance Final last week in Bloomington, Minnesota.

According to a press release from USFS, Rohner and Thackeray have been skating since they were three and two, and became partners in 2022. They currently train in Salt Lake City with former Team USA/international Ice Dancer Chris Obzansky.

“Noelle and Chase have a great work ethic. They are ambitious and talented, and I am immensely proud of them”, said Obzansky, a three-time U.S. Figure Skating Championships medalist and ISU Junior Grand Prix gold medalist. “They are having fun and we are focused on the future.”

Rohner and Thackeray have qualified for the U.S. Ice Dance Finals /Sectional Singles, the 2024 National Development Team and the 2024 High Performance National Development Camp which will be held January in Columbus, Ohio.

Rohner, 15, is the recipient of the 2021 USFS National Solo Dance Bronze title, as well as the the 2022 USFS Juvenile Ice Dance pewter medal. He is also a member of the Park City High School wrestling team.

Rohner, 15, was born a 28-week premature triplet with severe medical complications. His triplet siblings also won their respective national competitions in 2021, at age 12.

Thackeray, 13, qualified for the Pacific Coast Sectional event in her first season in Intermediate Women, finishing in the top 10, and 4th in the Central Pacific Region. She is also a ballerina, pianist, violinist and writer.
