Wrong-Way semi-truck collides with trooper and cars in Parley’s Canyon
A wrong-way semi-truck crashed into three vehicles, including a Utah Highway Patrol trooper's car, on Friday evening in Parley's Canyon.
SUMMIT PARK, Utah — A wrong-way semi-truck crashed into three vehicles, including a Utah Highway Patrol trooper’s car, on Friday evening in Parley’s Canyon.
KSL reports that just before 7 p.m., the semi-truck pulled into the median on Interstate 80 near milepost 143 near Summit Park. It then backed up into traffic, crossing the median into oncoming traffic, striking a UHP trooper attempting to stop it.
Gephard Daily says the driver was arrested and likely faces drunk driving and other charges. It wasn’t clear if the semi driver saw or was attempting to elude the trooper when he drove into traffic going the wrong way, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Chris Bishop said. “Whatever his motivations were, we’re just glad we got him stopped. Damage could have been monumental.”
Thankfully, there were no reported injuries in the incident.
