McLeod Creek beaver dam destroyed, DWR investigating

PARK CITY, Utah — Conservation officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are investigating the destruction of a beaver dam on McLeod Creek, along a popular city trail and behind Temple Har Shalom.

Witnesses reported that the destruction occurred at some point over the Labor Day weekend.

According to Faith Heaton Jolley, DWR public information officer , the agency has issued beaver removal permits for the property owner in the past.

“These are lethal permits to remove beavers that are causing issues to the property,” Jolley said. “We did not issue a permit for beaver removal for this area this year; however, we do not yet have information on who removed the beavers or beaver dam at this point.”

A representative from Temple Har Shalom declined to comment.
