Watch as the Utah Warriors attempt the world’s largest scrum to benefit a great cause
UTAH — Utah is on the verge of making history as local and international rugby players as well as 3,000 passionate fans gather to witness a momentous event.
The Utah Warriors and France’s championship rugby club, Stade Toulousain, will face off in the exhibition match of the year on September 17. Following the game, both teams are rallying Utahns to join them in breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest scrum.
Unsure what a scrum is and why it would be such a feat?
In rugby, a scrum is a captivating face-off between eight players from each team. They bind arm-in-arm, pushing with all their might to seize possession of the rugby ball. This thrilling display of strength and strategy is a defining aspect for newcomers to the sport.
This incredible feat will raise funds for worthy causes—nonprofit partners 5 For The Fight and Make-A-Wish Utah—and unite the community in an awe-inspiring display of solidarity.
“This ambitious event is about bringing people together for a great cause, a great time, and to make great things happen,” said Andy Chesnut, commercial general manager of the Utah Warriors in a press release. “That’s what Utah does. That’s what makes this community special.”
