Police identify father and son involved in Midway shooting and stabbing incident

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two men involved in a shooting and stabbing incident that took place at Swiss Mountain Estates on August 7.

The men have been identified as Eric Daugaard, 53, and his son, Warick Daugaard, 25.

According to a statement from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary indications suggest that Eric was stabbed multiple times by Warick. Eric then used a firearm to defend himself, shooting and injuring Warick. Warick was later pronounced dead on the scene.

“While the Medical Examiner determines the official cause of death, preliminary indications also suggest that Warick succumbed to a self-inflicted wound  caused by an edged weapon,” said a statement from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office.

A GoFundMe has been set up by a relative of the Daurgaard family to raise money for Warick’s funeral expenses.
