Memoir from historian Gary Kimball paints pictures of Park City during its ‘ghost town era’
PARK CITY, Utah — Park City, Utah, has a rich and often overlooked history that goes beyond the well-known eras of mining and skiing.
Historian Gary Kimball, who passed away in 2018, sheds light on the vibrant community that thrived in the transitional years when mining dwindled, and skiing was at its early stages in this final book release, “Look Beyond the Sleeping Dogs: Portraits of a Vibrant Community in Park City’s ‘Ghost Town’ Era.”

A book release event will be held at Dolly’s Bookstore on September 16 at 5 p.m.
