Volunteers needed to pull invasive plants from RTS Open Space
PARK CITY, Utah— Calling all volunteers, the Basin Recreation Open Space Crew is looking for helping hands to pull invasive Dyer’s Woad from the RTS Open Space on July 20.
Volunteers will meet at the Utah Olympic Park parking lot at 3419 Olympic Parkway at 8 a.m., and work until 11 a.m. Closed-toe shoes, water, and gloves are recommended.
“Let’s work together to root out the noxious weed, Dyer’s Woad, and help preserve the native plant species at RTS!” Said the Basin Recreation website. “Noxious weeds are invasive species that can take over the vegetative landscape and compete with native plants, so it is important to remove them from our open spaces.”
You’ll journey to the upper portion of the RTS Open Space, where the battle begins against the invasive Dyer’s Woad. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves as you pull out these troublesome plants from the root and ensure no spreading of their seeds.
