Utah author and ‘Kneaders’ co-founder releases first cookbook
UTAH— After retiring from their former day jobs, Colleen and Gary Worthington embarked on the journey of baking traditional European bread in their kitchen.
Fueled by their determination to master the art of baking artisan bread, they diligently delved into learning every aspect of the craft. They ultimately achieved the mastery needed to create the perfect loaves through reading, attending school at both the American Institute of Baking and San Francisco Baking Institute, practicing, and refining their skills. Finally, with the creation of these flawless breads, Kneaders, their first bakery, was born.
In 1997, their first bakery opened its doors in Orem, Utah, captivating patrons with the aroma of freshly baked European hearth bread. As the months passed, their menu blossomed to encompass an array of sandwiches, soups, crisp salads, and pastries. What’s more, the café delights customers with an enticing selection of home and seasonal décor. Now, marking a momentous milestone, they unveil their 50th locations across Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Texas, and Utah.
In their new book, “Kneaders: A Celebration of Our Recipes and Memories,” on sale October 3, 2023, Colleen Worthington shares treasured recipes from her beloved bakery and café.
