The thrilling Døds Federation World Tour takes off on July 8th, showcasing athletes pushing their limits in the extreme Norwegian death diving style. Then on Sunday, July 9th, High Dive Global unleashes the inaugural Skyfall Tour, featuring a blend of technical and Freestyle high dive competitions. Both events are set to run from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m at the Utah Olympic Park.
Døds Diving, the Norwegian Viking style of diving, also known as Death Diving, has been a captivating sport in the US since making its debut on ESPN in 2019. From a national curiosity to a global phenomenon, this extreme diving discipline is now making its grand debut with the first-ever US National Championship.
Technical high diving captured the public’s interest when the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series was introduced in 2009, propelling the sport forward. Recognizing its appeal, World Aquatics integrated high diving as an official discipline of diving in 2013. Men compete from lofty 27-meter platforms, while women showcase their skills from 20 meters above the water.
High diving became the first sold-out event at the 2019 World Championships, hinting at its immense popularity. The sport has even caught the attention of organizers, as it is under consideration for inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games.
