Annual Monster Drawing Rally accepting artist applications
PARK CITY, Utah — The Arts Council of Park City & Summit County and Kimball Art Center are teaming up once again to host the much-anticipated annual Monster Drawing Rally. This exciting event brings together artists, spectators, collectors, and local creatives for an unforgettable experience.
Now accepting artist applications, through August 9, the eighth annual Monster Drawing Rally will take place outdoors on Saturday, September 9, at Kimball Art Center’s The Yard location. This event is a full day filled with live rounds of art creation as talented artists showcase their skills in thrilling 50-minute sessions.
“We look forward to hosting the 2023 Monster Drawing Rally at Kimball Art Center this fall,” says Aldy Milliken, Kimball Art Center Executive Director, on the website. “Hosting creatives and collectors in such an energetic atmosphere truly inspires, connects, and educates through art and the creative process, and yet another example of how the Kimball is a gathering place for creatives and art lovers.”
During the rally, artists will create captivating two-dimensional artworks. While they can bring partially completed work, all pieces must be finished on-site, adding an element of excitement and spontaneity to each creation. The maximum size allowed is 11×17 inches, ensuring artists stay focused on conveying their vision within a defined space.
Though basic supplies like paper, pencils, crayons, markers, and colored pencils will be provided, artists are encouraged to bring their own materials to express themselves truly. As the timer runs out, finished pieces become available for purchase, each priced at $50. If multiple people are interested in a particular artwork, a random card draw will determine the lucky new owner.
