2023 bird hunt permit deadline July 19

UTAH — Apply for this year’s bird hunts, and you may be hunting some incredible species this fall in Utah’s beautiful outdoors.

You have until July 19 to apply for these exciting hunts:

  • Sandhill crane
  • Greater sage-grouse
  • Tundra swan
  • Sharp-tailed grouse

If you’re planning to apply for a tundra swan permit, you must first complete the swan hunting orientation course. Starting this year, it is illegal to harvest a trumpeter swan in Utah.

If you are successful in drawing a permit, you’ll be notified no later than August 4. See the Utah Upland Game and Waterfowl guidebooks or recent wildlife news for additional details.
