Local cookie artist wins top honor
PARK CITY, Utah—Local Park City resident and professionally trained pastry chef, Alicia Joos, has taken home the top honors at the esteemed Cookie Con Cookie Art Convention & Show, Sugar Show competition, in the Anything Goes category for her incredible portrait cookie of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Joos is no stranger to creating stunning edible art pieces as an accomplished cookie artist since 2021, but her winning cookie creation has taken the cookie world by storm. Using a variety of techniques, colorful icing, and a steady hand, Joos perfectly captured the likenesses of the late Supreme Court Justice, paying a beautiful homage to an icon that has inspired so many.
“I was really captivated by the lifelong achievement that Ruth Bader Ginsburg had accomplished,” Joos said. “I really view her as neither blue nor red, but on the side of justice, I was emotionally captivated by honoring her life’s work. It was an honor to recognize her for painting her.”
Last year Joos competed on the Food Network on the Christmas Cookie Challenge, and her win at Cookie Con solidified her status as one of the most talented cookie artists in the community. She plans to continue to grow her business by offering cookie decorating classes and special offerings coming soon.
