FRANCE — Simon Billy became the 2023 FIS Speed Skiing world champion in his home nation; and set a new world record with 159.7 miles per hour in March.
France also took second place for the men, and third place went to Austria. The Swedish women’s winner skied 151 miles per hour, and second place went to a woman from Italy, and third to France.
Although, over the decades there have been 110 men and women in FIS representing the USA, no Americans rostered this winter.

15 countries were, however, represented in March’s Speed Skiing World Cups held in Sweden and in Andora, bordered between France and Spain.
