Man gets tased after vehicle pursuit through Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — On Sunday May 21 Deputies from the Summit County Sheriffs Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle operating without insurance at the intersection of SR224 & Cove Canyon. The vehicle fled from Deputies and onto I-80 westbound, the vehicle left the roadway near 135 I-80 westbound where it came to a stop.

The driver and sole occupant exited the vehicle then fled on foot from Deputies. The male was taken into custody after a taser deployment prevented him from crossing over a high wildlife fence. After being evaluated and cleared by medical personnel he was booked into the Summit County Jail without further incident.

Charges include: FAIL TO STOP OR RESPOND AT COMMAND OF POLICE 41-6A-210 – Felony 3, FAIL TO STOP AT COMMAND OF LAW ENFORCEMENT 76-8-305.5 – Misdemeanor A, RECKLESS DRIVING 41-6A-528 – Misdemeanor B, OPERATING VEHICLE WITHOUT INSURANCE 41-12A-302 – Misdemeanor C, DRIVING ON DENIED 53-3-227 – Misdemeanor C
