Bob Sertner announces candidacy for Park City Council

PARK CITY, Utah – The Park City City Council race is heating up, with Bob Sertner announcing his candidacy for one of three vacant seats, joining Betsy Wallace who announced her candidacy last week.

Sertner is a retired award-winning Television Executive Producer, and he plans to contribute his professional experiences to help shape the city’s future by focusing on a long-range plan for the city.

Three members of the city council will be chosen in Park City’s municipal elections on November 7, 2023. If there are more candidates than there are available seats, a primary election will be held on August 15, 2023, in accordance with state law.

A four-year term will be assigned to each council member. Becca Gerber, Max Doilney, and Ryan Dickey are the individuals holding the three council positions up for election. On June 1, 2, 5, and 7, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., candidates can fill out a Declaration of Candidacy at Park City Hall, 445 Marsac Avenue, Park City.

Sertner’s journey to Park City first started as a skiing vacation, which later progressed into becoming a devoted full-time community member. Sertner along with his partner of 30 years, who is soon to be his husband, are determined to maintain Park City as an inclusive environment for all families.

“As a passionate member of the Park City community, I am committed to building a future that expands the community, fosters connection, and empowers every resident to be heard. Together, we can create a city where everyone feels valued and has the opportunity to thrive. I am excited to bring my experiences and dedication to the table as we shape a brighter and more prepared Park City for generations to come,” said Sertner.

In order to solve critical concerns including traffic and parking, climate resiliency, infrastructure, and other issues, Sertner’s campaign emphasizes sensible development management, long-term planning, protecting communities, fostering the working and middle class, pushing for affordable housing and childcare, and more. His plan for Park City prioritizes sustainability and the requirements of the local populace while maintaining its economic, social, and environmental well-being.

Sertner plans to leverage his skills and experiences gained throughout his television career to fight for political causes and equality. He hopes to utilize these skills on the City Council, and serve the community which has embraced him and his family.
