Attempted traffic stop results in police chase through Parley’s Canyon
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — An attempted traffic stop yesterday led to a police chase through Parley’s Canyon, and ended in Salt Lake City.
According to a press release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), officers attempted to stop a vehicle at SR 224 and Bear Cub at 12:47 a.m. after observing multiple traffic violations.
The attempted stop resulted in a pursuit in varying speeds down Parley’s Canyon. Eventually the driver tried to take an exit onto I-215 but lost control of the vehicle in the process, causing it to roll multiple times.
There were three occupants on the vehicle, two female and one male. Two of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle, and the remaining occupant, the driver, was extricated by fire personnel.
Two of the occupants were found to have multiple outstanding warrants for their arrest. All three occupants were transported to local medical facilities following the vehicle rollover.
“During a search of the vehicle and the wreckage, distribution amounts of methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located,” said the press release from the SCSO. “Suspected stolen items which include U.S. mail were also located within the wreckage.”
The identities of the three individuals have not been released at this time.
