Barilla unveils new pasta in celebration of Mikaela Shiffrin’s 87th World Cup skiing victory

PARK CITY, Utah — With Mikaela Shiffrin’s historic 87 World Cup wins making her the winningest alpine skier in history; BluRhapsody by Barilla is introducing 87 limited-edition packs with pasta shaped as “8” and “7” to mark the achievement.

Shiffrin will receive the first box of the specialty pasta and sign the remaining 86. Numbers two through ten will be auctioned off, and the remaining 77 boxes will be available at a fixed price. All proceeds from the auction and sale of the remaining boxes will be donated to Food for Soul; a charity focused on combating food wastage and hunger through social awareness.

Barilla has been a sponsor for Shiffrin for the last 12 years, and is her longest-held sponsor. Marking the occasion of the new release of the special edition pasta will be an 87-second film showing Shiffrin’s journey, and her partnership with Barilla.

Since breaking onto the skiing scene in 2011, Shiffrin has been a mainstay of the skiing world at the multiple Olympics and on the world cup circuit. Her 87 World Cup wins broke a 34-year record of 86 World Cup wins.

“It is a surreal achievement, and one that I have worked incredibly hard to achieve,” said Shiffrin. “I am extremely grateful for everyone who has supported me in this journey. I have to give a big show of appreciation to my loved ones and also my Barilla family, who have been with me for such a large portion of my career. Without your support and backing, I wouldn’t be in the position I am in today.”
