PCSD and Park City Institute reach agreement for Eccles Center programming
PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Institute and Park City School District (PCSD) entered a Memorandum of Understanding today that will allow for the continuation of community programming at the George S. and Delores Dore’ Eccles Center for the Performing Arts.
Representatives from the Park City Institute and PCSD have been in talks for over a year to come to an agreement that would provide programming for the Eccles Center by the Park City Institute for the next five years.
“This agreement will ensure district needs are prioritized, provide equitable community access, facilitate world-class cultural programming, and provide a reliable source of funds for the maintenance and operations of the Eccles Center,” said Dr. Jill Gildea, superintendent of the Park City School District.
“This Memor. of Understanding will extend the ability for the Park City Institute to program community events in the Eccles,” said Ari Ioannides, executive director of the Park City Institute. “We will continue to collaborate with the School District administrators and other community partners to assure cultural events can take place at the Eccles when not being used for our local students. The MOU provides additional revenue to the school district through a $2.00 facility use fee that will be added to each ticket the Park City Institute sells. It also ensures equitable access to the Eccles by other local nonprofit organizations.”
The Park City Institute is now looking to extend its long-standing contract with the Sundance Institute that allows for Sundance Film Festival screenings at the Eccles Center.
“Sundance Institute is excited that Park City School District and Park City Institute have finalized the agreement allowing the Institute to continue its legacy of providing high quality and diverse programming for both residents and visitors of Park City to enjoy,” said Betsy Wallace, managing director of the Sundance Institute. “It also allows Sundance Institute to continue its over 20-year relationship with Park City Institute to showcase independent films during Sundance Institute’s annual Sundance Film Festival at the marvelous George S. & Dolores Dore’ Eccles Center Theater for the Performing Arts.”
