Suspect arrested after threatening local school
PARK CITY, Utah — A suspect was located and apprehended after making threats toward a Park City school on social media yesterday.
According to a statement from Park City School District, the suspect referenced schools in an Instagram post while holding a weapon that was later determined by the Park City Police Department to be a B.B. gun.
The PCPD and the Department of Homeland Security were able to quickly locate the suspect, who was neither an employee or student of PCSD.
The PCSD will have increased police presence at schools today as an additional precaution.
“We appreciate students, staff, and parents reporting unusual or potentially unsafe situations or suspicious activity to the school directly, the SafeUT App, or 24/7 hotline at 833-372-3388,” said a statement from the PCSD. “Student safety is always our top priority. Thank you for your support and assistance in keeping our schools safe.”
