Semi hit by train after leaving freeway in Echo Canyon

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — At approximately 3:45pm a semi left the freeway and ended up on the train tracks in Echo Canyon / I-80 mile marker 176. The semi was then struck by an oncoming train. The patient was treated and transported in stable condition by Ambulance 21 to a trauma center. UDOT is reporting minor traffic delays as a result of the incident.

Heavy wet snow has created dangerous driving conditions across the region and is expected to continue through 5 AM Monday morning. There is a Winter Storm Warning in effect predicting 6 to 12 inches of snow with locally higher amounts up to 24 inches in the Park City and Heber City areas. Accumulations will be lower in valleys below 6000 feet.
