New Year’s storm brings feet of fresh powder to ski resorts

UTAH — Resorts throughout Utah have reported massive snowfall totals today thanks to this weekend’s winter storm.

According to the US National Weather Service, Sundance Mountain Resort reported the highest storm total with 48 inches at mid-mountain. Brighton Resort came in second with 43 inches, and Alta Ski Area came in third with 37 inches.

Snow is still falling in the Park City area, and is expected to continue falling on and off throughout Tuesday.

Park City Mountain Resort reported this morning that it had received 11 inches of snow in the past 24 hours, marking a total of 55 inches of snow in the past 7 days.

Deer Valley Resort reported this morning that it had received 16 inches of snow in the last 24 hours, totaling 41 inches in the last 72 hours.

Parking lots at Deer Valley have reached capacity for today, and the resort is recommending that patrons park at the Richardson Flats Park & Ride and use Park City Public Transit to access the Snow Park Lodge.
