Nearly $350,000 in cash, jewelry stolen from Powderwood Drive condo in burglary

PARK CITY, Utah — An estimated $250,000 in cash and $100,000 worth of jewelry were stolen from a condo on Powderwood Drive yesterday.

According to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the condo after the victim returned home to their third floor unit to find the back sliding door ajar and their front door unsecured.

The victim found two rooms had been ransacked, and the small safe containing both the cash and jewelry, among other items, was missing from the bedroom.

Initial investigation determined that the suspect had scaled the outdoor balconies of the two lower units, and was able to enter the victim’s condo via the sliding glass balcony door that did not have a working lock.

The suspect then appeared to have gone through the master bedroom and retrieve the safe, which they covered in a blanket and took from the condo through the front door.

Evidence suggests that the suspect carried the safe down a stairwell and into the ground level parking garage. Police are currently working to collect surveillance video footage from this active case.

This is a developing story.
