UTAH — The US National Weather Service Salt Lake City issued a severe thunder watch through 8 p.m. for most Utah counties including Summit and Wasatch Counties in a Facebook post from 1 p.m. on September 21.
Currently, the post details only a severe weather “watch,” not a “warning”, meaning that conditions exist where a severe thunderstorm could develop. The post does encourage Utahns to stay updated in case USNW changes the watch to a warning status.
The post also mentions the possibilities of hail the size of a quarter, wind in scattered gusts up to 75 MPH, and frequent lightning. The post concludes by advising Utahns to “plan ahead and prepare” for storms on September 21.
