Police Log: SAR find deceased man in Uintas; Two separate incidents of DUIs with empty alcohol beverages found

Saturday, September 24:

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County Sheriff Deputies, U.S. Forest Rangers, and Search and Rescue responded to a Garmin SOS signal on Saturday. A third party sent the alert after finding an off-road motorcyclist unconscious in the Uintas on mile 14 of Shingle Creek Trail #233.  CPR was conducted on the individual before emergency services arrived.

EMS and Life Flight provided medical care after reaching the scene, but their efforts could not save the patient and the 62-year-old Oklahoma City man died on the scene.

Following the confined death of the man, the Office of the Medical Examiner (OME) and investigators were notified. Local law enforcement notified the next of kin of the decedent, and after locating his camper, his belongings were collected.

SUMMIT COUNTY, UTAH — Summit County Sheriff Deputies began searching for a silver Mazada on I-80 after receiving an attempt to locate order from dispatch. The vehicle was spotted on Old Highway 40 a short time later, moving at a high rate of speed while leaving its lane on multiple occasions. Deputies pursued, and a traffic stop was initiated.

During the traffic stop, deputies observed the oder of alcohol coming from the driver, a 37-year-old West Valley Man. Deputies arrested the man for a DUI.

While inventoried, there were multiple open alcoholic containers found on the floorboard of the passenger seat.

Friday, September 23:

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A person notified Summit County Sheriff Deputies after a 50-year-old Salt Lake City man smelling of alcohol pulled to the side of the road and tried to fight him.  Deputies found the 50-year-old driver near East Canyon Road and subsequently made a traffic stop.

Deputies detected the odor of alcohol during the traffic stop coming from the driver’s breath. A field sobriety test was administered, and the driver was arrested.

A cooler with around 12 empty beers was found while inventorying the vehicle on the passenger floorboard.
