Suspect arrested in Springville fire for using lighter to burn spider
SPRINGVILLE, Utah — At 5 p.m. on Monday, a fire started in Utah County just east of Springville. According to Utah Fire Info, the fire has reached 40 acres and is continuing to spread.
There are currently helicopters contracted by the state on-scene supporting ground crews in dropping water.
In a Twitter post by Utah County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect was arrested in relation to the fire. He informed officers he was trying to burn a spider with a lighter. Drugs and paraphernalia were found in the suspect’s backpack when he was taken into custody.
