Improper turn sends motorcyclist to hospital

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County Sheriff Deputies responded to an injury accident on Kilby Road, just east of Fresh Market in Pinebrook, on Tuesday. The injury occurred when a 22-year-old man from Kaysville in a van driving eastbound on Kilby Road attempted to make a U-turn to head westbound when he struck a woman on a motorcycle.

The motorcycle rolled after impacting the vehicle while the woman was still on the bike. Medical responders arrived and transported the woman to a Salt Lake area hospital.

Deputies cited the driver of the van for making an improper turn.

Summit County Sheriff’s Office released a statement about driving safety, reminding drivers to be aware in order to prevent incidents such as this.

“The Summit County Sheriff’s Office reminds all drivers to drive alert and aware. If you’re driving a passenger vehicle, keep your eyes open at all times for motorcycles, cyclists, and pedestrians. It’s always good to double-check your blind spot before turning or changing lanes. We also encourage those on motorcycles and bicycles to also drive alert and aware. We all have the responsibility to drive safely, lawfully, and with respect for others.”
