SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah. — The Eastern Summit County Planning Committee will hold a public hearing on their long-range transportation plan on Thursday, July 21. The planning committee will meet and ‘possibly take action’ on one of the five roadway projects intended to be completed by 2030.
The meeting will be held this Thursday at 6 p.m. and will be held online via Zoom, but if you prefer, County staff will be available in person at the anchor location, which is the Ledges Event Center (202 East Park Road, Coalville, Utah 84017). To find the Zoom link, please refer to the county website.
The long-range transportation plan is split into two parts — Eastern and Western Summit County. The Eastern county has five roadway projects intended to be completed by 2030, ranging from $1.7 million to $7.3 million. The Western county has 10 projects, all supposed to be completed in the next 8 years, which range from $1.3 million to $93.6 million.
Both Western and Eastern Summit County’s long-range transportation plans include the improvement or construction of new trails. New and improved trails will improve walking and biking accessibility throughout Summit County. Popular trails, such as the Willow Creek Loop and the Rail Trail, are being widened and paved, helping ‘provide connectivity for many types of users, from recreational to commuter in the Synderville Basin.’
Western and Eastern Summit county have three phases to their plans, with phase three ending by 2040. All proposed projects and plans are accessible on the Summit County website. The Thursday hearing is in regards to Eastern Summit County’s transportation plans for the next 8 years. Questions or concerns can be voiced at the hearing or submitted by email to bbrady@summitcounty.org.
