Sport Climbing World Cup comes to Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — USA Climbing, the Salt Lake City-based National Governing Body (NGB) of sport climbing hosted the best athletes from around the world in Pioneer Park between May 20 – 29. Athletes with visual impairments and with physical disabilities joined their able-bodied counterparts, many of whom had competed in Tokyo 2020’s inaugural Olympic events although paraclimbing is not a Paralympic sport.

Senator Mitt Romney came out to spectate.

The categories for this International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup were men’s and women’s bouldering and speed. IFSC is based out of Italy. One of the multiple, multinational podiums found American women in the first and third positions.
