Ski Butlers becomes Climate Neutral Certified

PARK CITY, Utah — In line with Earth Day 2022’s challenge to “Invest in Our Planet”, Ski Butlers, a full service, ski and snowboard rental delivery company in Park City, have announced that they are officially Climate Neutral Certified.

Ski Butlers joins the growing movement of brands achieving the Climate Neutral Certified standard by measuring its 2021 greenhouse gas emissions, purchasing eligible verified carbon credits to offset that footprint, and implementing plans to reduce emissions next year and beyond.

“We want to be a part of the solution,” says Bryn Carey, CEO of Ski Butlers. “One of the best ways to do this is for us to walk the talk and address our own carbon footprint through strategic business innovation.”

Ski Butlers measured its 2021 carbon footprint at 691 tonnes. To arrive at this number, Ski Butlers reviewed all of the emissions created from making and delivering their products/services, including employee commuting, business travel, and utility bills. The breakdown by scope is 205.62 MT CO2 in Scope 1; 43.42 MT CO2 in Scope 2; and 442.11 MT CO2 in Scope 3 (with 224.7 MT CO2 in employee commuting specifically).

Ski Butlers offset these emissions by purchasing 691 verified carbon credits. This is the equivalent of offsetting 1,715,204 miles driven by an average gas-powered vehicle. These carbon credits supported a portfolio of projects including an EV Charging Offset project in California through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation and a Texas based Wind Farm through Carbonfund.org.

They also created Reduction Action Plans to help lower our emissions over the next 12-24 months.

Reduction Measure #1

  • Plan: Ski Butler plans to reduce Scope 1 carbon emissions by 20% by Q4 2023 from CY: 21 baseline.
  • Action: Ski Butler will remove 10 light duty LPG vehicles from our fleet and introduce 5 new EV vehicles.

Reduction Measure #2

  • Plan: Ski Butler plans to reduce our carbon emissions from employee commuting by 25% by Q1 2024 from our baseline CY: 21.
  • Action: Ski Butler plans to execute pilot programs to encourage employee commuting through public transit, ride-share or other multi-modal options.

“Climate Neutral Certified companies show the world that immediate action on climate change is possible and essential,” says Austin Whitman, CEO of Climate Neutral. “In just three years, the growing number of Climate Neutral Certified brands has built a powerful movement that gives companies and consumers meaningful ways to act on climate, right now. The newly certified brands joining us – as well as current brands achieving recertification – are leading the way by recognizing that climate change must be solved. They believe that all companies should take immediate voluntary action to address their carbon emissions, and they are engaging their consumers around this important issue like never before.”

Ski Butlers joins the increasing ranks of companies treating carbon emissions like their business. Together, Climate Neutral Certified brands are making an impact on climate action right now, working to eliminate more than 1,000,000 tonnes of carbon emissions this year.
