North Face coat thief arrested for burglary after hit and run

Summit County, Utah — On Wednesday, deputies responded to a burglary near S Main St. in Coalville after a 61-year-old male crashed his vehicle into a nearby business and proceeded to break into a nearby residence.

After being awakened to the sounds of an intruder, the victim went to investigate and confronted a middle aged, white male wearing glasses who appeared to be talking to himself.

The 61-year-old Hoytsville man then stole a gray-green North Face puffy coat that belonged to the victim before exiting the residence out the front door and departing northward on foot. Deputies located the suspect in front of the Coalville Courthouse and arrested him for burglary of a dwelling. He was then transported to the Summit County Jail.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect’s vehicle was located elsewhere in Coalville where it appeared to have been abandoned after a hit and run accident earlier in the night. The accident caused minor damage at a local business.
