Utah woman dies after being run over by husband at SLC Airport

SALT LAKE CITY — A drunken man allegedly ran over and killed his wife in the parking garage of the Salt Lake City International Airport.

The police report affirms that Shawn Sturgeon, 38, was arrested for the automobile homicide of his wife Charlotte Sturgeon, 29, on Monday afternoon after the couple returned from vacation.

According to police, the couple can be seen on video surveillance entering their SUV in the parking garage.

Charlotte Sturgeon was putting the couple’s child into the backseat with the door open when Shawn Sturgeon put the car in reverse and began driving, the arrest report states.

Investigators say the video shows Charlotte Sturgeon falling to the ground, then being run over and dragged by the SUV for approximately 10 feet. Shawn Sturgeon then proceeded to walk the victim back to the vehicle and place her inside the front passenger seat.

Shawn Sturgeon then drove to the toll booth at the airport and asked for help. Charlotte Sturgeon was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

Responding officers reported that Shawn Sturgeon had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his mouth and bloodshot eyes. Additionally, the report also states that Sturgeon made several spontaneous utterances that he ‘ran my wife over’, ‘killed my wife’ and ‘I accidentally ran her over’.”
