Utah Ski Team sits in first place after day one of NCAA Ski Championships
PARK CITY, Utah — After the first day of the NCAA Skiing Championships, the University of Utah Ski Team currently sits in first place with a total score of 286.5 points, 24.5 points ahead of second place Colorado.
Highlighted by a first and second place finish in the Women’s 5K Classic at Soldier Hollow, Novie McCabe dominanted the competition with a final time of 13:22.8. Meanwhile, Sophia Laukli tied Vermont’s Anna Bizyukova in second with a time of 13:36.3. Between the two, Utah tallied 75.5 points, greatly boosting their overall score.
As for the Giant Slalom, Katie Parker finished third for the women with a 2:03.63 while Kaja Norbye came in fifth. In regards to the men, Utah’s Gustav Vollo finished with a time of 1:58.14 to tally 37 points.

At the conclusion of day one, Utah sits in first with 286.5 points while Colorado is in second with 262 and Denver is in third with 249.
With two days remaining in the competition, the Giant Slalom will continue on Friday beginning at 9 a.m. MT at Park City Mountain Resort. The competition will then conclude on Saturday with the Men’s 20K Freestyle and the Women’s 15K Freestyle at Soldier Hollow.
