Summit Park resident receives suspicious Russian letter

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday report, a resident of Aspen Dr. in Summit Park recently received a suspicious letter in the mail written in Russian and stated (translation): “Do you even understand what will happen to you in the next few weeks…?”

There was a grainy substance in the letter, which the postal inspector found to be a household chemical and not hazardous unless ingested.

According to the report, the homeowner has no ties to Russia and “cannot recall any enemies.” There were no other details made available about the mail.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has hit the one-month mark. Ukrainian authorities on Friday said that roughly 300 people died when a Russian airstrike blew up a theater where hundreds of civilians were sheltering.

If confirmed, the tragedy will likely “further crank up pressure on Western nations to step up military aid,” AP reports.

President Biden has plans in Poland Friday and Saturday after announcing a new energy partnership with the European Union in Brussels. The move is an effort to reduce the continent’s reliance on Russian energy sources.
