Spring scholarships still available for athletes enrolled in Youth Sports Alliance’s member clubs
PARK CITY, Utah — The Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) is offering need-based scholarships to exemplary athletes who are enrolled in YSA membership clubs.
Those eligible include any young athletes under the age of 21 who belong to the Figure Skating Club of Park City, Park City Ski & Snowboard, Park City Ice Miners, Park City Speed Skating Club, Utah Olympic Park Skeleton & Bobsled, Wasatch Luge, and Wasatch Freestyle.
The purpose of the YSA Stein Eriksen Scholarship is to provide financial aid to dedicated athletes who are unable to participate or compete without the help of outside funding. Funds for the scholarship are provided by the Stein Eriksen YSA Opportunity Endowment and scholarship donations, which obtained their funding goal of $2 million back in 2018. They are then distributed during the annual JANS Winter Welcome.
Some of the most notable beneficiaries of the scholarship have included Olympic Bronze Medalist Casey Dawson and slopestyle skier James Kanzler.
“Yeah, like they just you know, they take care of all levels of sports. They’re not just skiing, but a lot of other sports and just helping kids, you know, get good financially. You apply for a grant and they give it to you. They’ve been really good to us,” Jamie Kanzler, James’ father said.
The deadline for applications is April 1 and scholarship awards will be announced the week of April 15. A link to the application can be found here.
