Deer Valley promotes PC native Susie English to VP of marketing

PARK CITY, Utah — On Thursday, Deer Valley Resort announced the promotion of Susie English to vice president of marketing effective March 19.

English is currently the director of marketing for Deer Valley, and as vice president of marketing, she will oversee advertising, media relations, websites, email campaigns, social media, and public events.

Coleen Reardon, Deer Valley’s current VP of marketing, is retiring after 28 years at the resort as she seeks a seat on the Summit County Council.

She will continue to assist the resort as a senior advisor for an additional year.

English’s ties to Deer Valley go far beyond her career in the marketing department, per Deer Valley Communications Manager Emily Summers.

She is the daughter of Chuck English, the resort’s previous director of mountain operations, who managed all mountain activities for summer and winter, including grooming, guest services, snowmaking, ski, and bike patrol, lift operations and resort maintenance for over 30 years.

Chuck was instrumental in creating the foundation for the mountain experience that Deer Valley is so widely known for today.

Susie’s days at Deer Valley began even before she was born; her mother Mona worked in the employee cafeteria while pregnant with her.

English was on skis at the resort as soon as she could walk and grew up exploring the mountain year-round and running the halls of the day lodges.

She became a second-generation employee as soon as she was old enough and throughout high school she bussed tables, taught children’s ski lessons, was a counselor for Summer Adventure Camp, and worked at the concession stand in the Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.

“To say Susie is deeply rooted in the Deer Valley experience and brand is an understatement,” said Mark Brownlie, COO of Alterra Mountain Company. “Her understanding and connection to this mountain are unparalleled, and we are very grateful to have her perspective and knowledge of the resort’s legacy contributing to the future of Deer Valley.”

Before working as Deer Valley’s director of marketing, English was the director of communications for Ski Utah, where she promoted Utah’s 14 ski resorts on a local and national level. Before Ski Utah, she worked as the marketing manager for Rossignol Ski Company in Park City, focusing on marketing, public relations, and event management.

“As a Park City native, I am passionate about the community and all that it has to offer,” Susie English said in a statement. “After earning my BS in marketing and finance from the University of Denver, I chose to return to Park City and pursue a career in the ski industry that I grew up in.”

English is currently a board member for EATS, a member of the Park City Chamber Marketing Council, and serving on the marketing committee for Ski Utah.

She resides in Park City with her husband and two children, who are also growing up at the resort and soon may one day become third-generation Deer Valley employees.
