Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation announces 2002 Olympic Games Anniversary events

PARK CITY, Utah — The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF) has announced a month-long celebration event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 2002 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City.

In 2002, Deer Valley Resort hosted the freestyle moguls, aerials, and alpine slalom events for the Olympics and Park City Mountain Resort had the alpine giant slalom, snowboarding parallel giant slalom, and snowboarding halfpipe events.

The Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for The Games, Park City Council, Summit County Council, and the UOLF have scheduled a joint meeting on Feb. 15 at 2 pm MT at Utah Olympic Park to discuss a potential Olympic bid for 2030 or 2034.

“We’re not lobbying right now for a Games, but you know that might not be in our control and having energy behind it in a positive way I think could be a real benefit for us going forward,” Park City Councilman Max Doilney said at a meeting last week when discussing the events. “Especially being at that table and being able to have input, should that happen around here.”
