Author Heather McGhee cancels Park City Institute event due to COVID-19

PARK CITY, Utah — Bestselling author and Economist Heather McGhee has canceled her in-person event at the Park City Institute, slated for this Saturday, Jan. 8, in response to public health concerns over the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus, according to Ari Ioannides, executive director of the Park City Institute.

McGhee was also unable to accommodate alternative dates later in the 2021-22 Main Stage Series at the Park City Institute, Ioannides added. Ioannides went on to say that patrons will receive a full refund or credit to another show for tickets that were purchased.

This news comes on the heels of the Summit County Health Department issuing a public health advisory asking citizens to wear a face mask in public whenever indoors, regardless of vaccination status. This advisory is in effect through Jan. 31, 2022.

The Sundance Film Festival on Wednesday canceled plans for its in-person festival in Park City later this month.
