Park City Film returns to Jim Santy Auditorium
PARK CITY, Utah — After a summer break, Park City Film is returning to the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library this month.
“It’s a place where our community really comes together,” said Executive Director of Park City Film Katharine Wang. “This is our 27th season of showing independent cinema here in Park City.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming people back to see films as a collective, which I think is a very unique experience.”
The auditorium reopened after March lockdowns in the late fall of 2020 for a few member-only screenings.
Following some private screenings earlier this year, the theater opened back up to the general public in April (at 14% capacity).
Park City Film has now set the capacity of the auditorium to 50 percent to enable social distancing. They ask all patrons to keep 2-3 seats vacant between themselves and unrelated parties.
All patrons and employees are required to wear a mask. They may be removed for eating and drinking.
There will also be drive-in events at Utah Olympic Park this month along with virtual screenings.
“We’ve all been watching films a lot at home on Netflix or whatever, but there’s nothing that beats that experience of being with other people,” Wang said. “Come together, and laugh together, and cry together, have that emotive response.”
