SNAPPED: Gray Globemallow (Sphaeralcea incana)

Gray Globemallow is a member of the Mallow family, which has around 1,500 species, including; Rose-of-Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus), Hollyhock (Althaea rosea), and the vegetable Okra (Hibiscus esculentus).

Gray Globemallow, a desert-loving perennial, can grow as large as 6 feet tall and 2 feet wide. One stalk can hold many small, vibrant orange, cup-shaped flowers.

The flowers are a source of food for butterflies and bees. In addition, indigenous people use Gray Globemallow leaves and flowers in an herbal tea to treat respiratory and digestion issues.
