Storm Series Forecasted for the Wasatch
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. — A series of storms will hit the Wasatch Mountains this weekend and into next week, according to the U.S. National Weather Service. Powderhounds should anticipate snowfall in higher elevations Thursday night through Friday night, then a second system will roll in late Saturday and into Sunday, followed by a third (yes, third) storm on Monday and Tuesday.
The weather service said yesterday, “The highest confidence is that the mountains will receive abundant snow, likely measured in feet.”
Always check the avalanche forecast before entering the backcountry. This season’s snowpack has proven extremely dangerous, even for prepared and trained users of backcountry terrain. Make sure to “know before you go” and turn to experts at the Utah Avalanche Center for information and training courses before any outdoor activities in backcountry terrain this winter.
