This winter sunrise last week was reason to take a nature appreciation break as Nick Herrman of Mountain Trails Foundation helped with early morning winter trail grooming. Mountain Trails grooms around 30 km of trails in Round Valley for cross-country and nordic skiing, as well as single-track fat tire biking in winter. The non-profit’s staff begins its daily grooming process around 7 a.m. and occasionally spots early risers nordic skiing the fresh corduroy as dawn breaks.
“I’m constantly blown away with how successful [the trail system has] become,” Mountain Trails Field Manager Rick Fournier said.
Those looking to get outside on the trails during any season can check Mountain Trail’s grooming report, which is updated frequently.
