South Summit Superintendent Sorenson to Switch Districts Mid-Schoolyear
PARK CITY, Utah. — School Districts in Summit County are playing musical chairs with their leadership; current Superintendent of the South Summit School District, Shad Sorenson, will be the new Chief Human Resources Officer for the Park City School District beginning January 2021.
In October, Sorenson announced his resignation but his future career plans were not made public. According to a statement by the South Summit School District, they secured interim Superintendent Steve Hirase, whose 38-year career in education equips him to lead South Summit schools until they find a permanent replacement by July 2021.
“Superintendent Hirase is an amazing and experienced leader,” Sorenson said in a statement shared by the South Summit School District. “He has compassion and his expertise will be valuable in assisting to onboard new board members, assist in the legislative and budgeting process, and effectively manage a unique year during a pandemic.”
