SNAPPED: A local’s view of the Christmas Star from Round Valley
Park City local and hobby photographer Jennifer Gardner geared up to photograph a view of the Christmas Star last week from her home in Round Valley. She wished she had a bigger lens, but nonetheless took advantage of the warmer than usual night and the dusk lighting to photograph this phenomenon that occurs once every 800 years or so.
“I usually have my Nikon DSLR camera set up on a tripod on the top floor of my house to spontaneously take photos of a great sunrise, sunset, or the wildlife behind my house…” said Gardner. “I knew that this unique star arrangement was coming up on 12/21 and wanted to at least, try to capture it with my 300 mm lens. Of course, it was much better with our binoculars!”
