Park City seeks public input on proposed land use code changes

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City residents will have an opportunity next week to weigh in on proposed land use code changes covering wildfire resilience, affordable housing, parking, open space, and other issues as the city works to implement the General Plan adopted in 2025.
The city’s Planning team will host a community open house Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the Park City Library. Residents can learn about proposed updates, ask questions, and share feedback to help guide future policy decisions.
The changes are intended to align the city’s Land Management Code with the General Plan adopted in September 2025. The plan sets long-term priorities for Park City, including preserving its character and natural setting, expanding affordable housing, improving transportation, and advancing sustainability.
City Council identified several areas for code updates earlier this year, and potential changes under discussion include updated wildfire-resistant landscaping requirements, new standards for outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs, changes to parking regulations, and provisions intended to encourage affordable and seasonal housing.
The city is also considering sustainability measures, including requirements for construction projects to divert waste from landfills. Proposed updates to telecommunications regulations would address emerging technologies and small wireless facilities.
The open house will feature information tables on the various topics.
University of Utah researchers will also be present to gather community input on wildfire mitigation, resilience, and insurance as part of an ongoing study.
