Park City approves 2027 Park Silly Sunday dates as market prepares for 20th season

PARK CITY, Utah — Park Silly Sunday Market reported on its 2026 season at Park City Council Thursday during its annual end-of-season review and proposed next year’s market dates for approval.

The council unanimously approved the dates following a debrief from city staff and market organizers, who reported on its summer with no noise complaints or other significant issues.

Next year, the market will celebrate its 20th season. Kate McChesney, said organizers are not counting the COVID-19 season as a full season because the market did not close the street and hold its usual event.

Aaron Archie, the city’s special events coordinator, told the council that the market requires coordination across multiple city departments, including streets, parks, transit, transportation, communications, public safety, and parking. These groups coordinated to help the market comply with the requirements of its city services agreement and Level 4 special event permit.

Archie also recognized Fire Marshal Sherry Wellman and city code enforcement staff for working with vendors to educate them about and facilitate compliance with fire permit standards.

Kate McChesney, executive director of the market, echoed Archie’s appreciation for city staff and the ongoing support of the mayor and council.

“Because it does take a village to do what we do, and we do make it look easy,” McChesney said, adding that significant work happens behind the scenes to bring the market together.

The approved 2027 market dates:

  • June 6, 13, 20, 27
  • July 11, 18
  • Aug 29
  • Sept 5, 12, 19, 26

Council members expressed enthusiasm for the market’s return, including a proposed Aug. 29 date. McChesney said the market had included an August date in its schedules since 2025 and requested one again for 2027 to maintain consistency.
