SNAPPED: Park City women’s golf league raises record $30,000 for cancer care, research

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Women’s 9-Hole Golf League raised a record $30,000 during its 30th annual Rally for a Cure, surpassing its fundraising goal and last year’s total.

More than 200 women participated in the July 28 event at Park City Golf Club. The money will be distributed through the local nonprofit Playing for Life to support People’s Health Clinic, Image Reborn and breast cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

The event raised $22,000 last year. Organizers set a goal of $25,000 for this year’s milestone rally but exceeded it by an additional $5,000, marking the highest fundraising total in the event’s history.

“The incredible turnout, overwhelming enthusiasm and remarkable generosity of our golfers, sponsors, volunteers and donors made our 30th anniversary one for the record books,” league co-chair Kathy Roll said. “Every dollar raised helps advance women’s cancer care and research while bringing hope to those facing cancer.”

More than 50 volunteers spent weeks securing sponsors, collecting prizes, assembling drawing baskets, decorating golf carts and preparing for the event.

Event co-chair Kathy Higginson thanked the golfers, volunteers, donors and sponsors who supported the fundraiser.

The league also credited the Park City Golf Club, the Men’s 18-Hole League and the Women’s 18-Hole League for helping make the event possible. Local businesses, golf courses and individual donors contributed sponsorships, prizes and in-kind donations.

The Park City Women’s 9-Hole Golf League describes itself as the largest women’s golf league in Utah.
