Community members of any artistic experience are invited to join Leadership Park City Class 32, local artists and volunteers this Saturday to help complete a conservation-themed mural at Junction Commons
PARK CITY, Utah — The Summit County Mural Project will host a volunteer painting day Saturday at Junction Commons, inviting residents to help complete a collaborative mural focused on land and water conservation.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, July 11, will take place on the side of the Gap Factory Store at Junction Commons, 6699 North Landmark Drive, Suite D105.
The mural project is the official class project of Leadership Park City Class 32. Each year, Leadership Park City selects a class project intended to provide a lasting benefit to the community. Class 32 chose to launch a series of collaborative public murals across Summit County, bringing together artists, nonprofits, businesses and residents to reflect the county’s values.
The Junction Commons mural is led by local artist Anna Nizhoni. The design depicts a pair of hands forming the shape of a heart while holding a mountain landscape and reservoir, with water slipping through the fingers to represent the growing scarcity of the resource. The imagery is meant to symbolize both an affection for Summit County’s natural beauty and a responsibility to protect it.
The project has already completed murals at Peace House and the Summit County Clubhouse. Additional murals are planned throughout the summer before Leadership Park City Class 32 concludes its program in October. Each mural is developed in partnership with its host organization.
Saturday’s painting day will include current Leadership Park City Class 32 members, program alumni, local artists and community volunteers working alongside one another. Organizers designed the artwork so participants of any artistic skill level can contribute under the artist’s direction.
