Power outage impacts more than 1,100 customers in Kimball Junction area

PARK CITY, Utah — A power outage is affecting more than 1,100 Rocky Mountain Power customers in the Park City area Monday afternoon, forcing several businesses to close.

According to Rocky Mountain Power, the outage was first reported at 12:40 p.m. on July 27 and is impacting 1,154 customers. Crews have been notified, and the cause remains under investigation.

Summit County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Skyler Talbot said the outage may be related to construction activity after workers reportedly struck powerlines in the area shortly after 12:30 p.m. Rocky Mountain Power has not confirmed the cause.

The utility’s original estimated restoration time was 3:30 p.m., but that estimate has since been pushed back. Rocky Mountain Power now expects service to be restored before 6:30 p.m.

The outage has affected local businesses, including the Park City Walmart, which has closed due to the loss of power. Additional businesses may also be impacted.
