Park City Jiu Jitsu hosts annual Train High Camp with participants from 7 states with a local Black Belt winner

PARK CITY, Utah — The annual Train High Camp, held on July 17–19, was hosted by Park City native and owner/operator Mike Diaz’s Park City Jiu Jitsu, with the Main Event – the Black Belt Super Fight won by fellow local Nick Howlett, who defeated Michael Foster from Vernal.

This year’s event brought competitors from Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Illinois, Georgia, and Nevada, with guest instructors traveling from Mississippi, Georgia, Illinois, Hawaii, Utah, and Nevada, making it one of their most geographically diverse camps to date.

“We are grateful to be able to bring so many people from all over the country together here in beautiful Park City,” Mike Diaz told TownLift.

The Super Fights are submission-only. If there is no submission during regulation, the match moves into overtime, where the first competitor to score a point wins the match and earns the medal.

“We were especially proud to see several Park City Jiu Jitsu athletes earn victories in front of their hometown crowd,” Park City Jiu Jitsu Manager Ramona Stark told TownLift.

The event also highlighted the local Park City Jiu Jitsu community during the Opening Ceremony. 14-year-old Park City Jiu Jitsu yellow belt Nolan Comte beautifully performed the National Anthem. At the same time, the American flag was presented by Park City Jiu Jitsu purple belt and local firefighter Jesse Di Yanni.

Kamas’ High Star Ranch played a big role in putting on this event.
